Join us March 17 as we celebrate National Affirming Day!
Each week our Sunday morning worship includes both lively and reflective music from our choir, band, and guest musicians. It includes scripture, prayer, a sermon, singing, and musical meditation. We pray, celebrate, grieve, and grow together, bringing all that we are, and all that we are carrying.
On March 17, the CMUC Affirm Committee is hosting a PIE Day celebration in coordination with Affirm United’s PIE Day initiative to be Publicly, Intentionally and Explicitly Affirming of all people. We will have guest preacher Beth Carlson-Malena in the service that morning, and then we will share PIE during coffee hour to celebrate.
Church service starts at 10:30 in the church Sanctuary. PIE starts at noon in the Centre for Peace.
If you are able to bring pie to share, please email Katie at katiecollinsallenbach[at]gmail.com.
All are truly welcome.
As an Affirming ministry, we at Canadian Memorial declare in both words and actions that God loves and accepts people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. For more information on what it means to us to be Affirming, please see our Affirm web page.

Love is like pi – real, irrational & neverending.
ABOUT BETH CARLSON-MALENA
“Beth Carlson–Malena is a queer pastor who lives in Vancouver with her wifeDanice. One year ago, she helped launch a new affirming church called Open Way, where she co-pastors alongside her friend Mark. She also serves as Director of Community for Generous Space Ministries, offering support and connection to LGBTQ+ Christians across Canada, especially those struggling to come out in their churches or families. In between those jobs, she also officiates weddings with Young, Hip & Married, performing mainly non-religious ceremonies for LGBTQ+ couples. In her (minimal!) free time, she enjoys watching and reading science fiction.”
